Modern cable has ruined the Saturday morning cartoon ritual. When cartoons are available 24/7, there is no need to plan for the one day a week when all the cartoons are on. There are no worries about missing one because it is scheduled for the same time slot as another you don’t want to miss.

Frankly, I’ve come to hate cartoons. Familiarity from them being on all the time has bred contempt.

I’m on it!

I like to think of Talespin as taking place in a post-apocalytpic world where Climate Change has flooded the earth and super-intelligent animals rule the skies in 1930’s era aircraft.

I think there is still a solid reason for Saturday morning cartoons. I'm not a parent myself but one can chime in on this thought. Watching cartoons on a Saturday morning allows a parent to sleep in just a little while long.

I loved Tailspin when I was little. My children will definitely watch it when I have some.

To each their own. Not everybody can be waking up at that time like us in Freedom Land.

That may have been the case years ago, but isn’t true any longer. Because the kids have access to cartoons all the time, the Saturday morning toons aren’t unique. If you miss them Saturday, you can pick up the show just about any time.

There are also all of the other activities encouraging you to get out of bed on Saturdays. Sports are the big one - soccer, little league, peewee football - you name it, there’s a season for it and either a practice or a game on Saturday morning. If there is nothing happening in the morning, you still have to get up to work on cars, home projects, or just clean since there is always something scheduled for some other time on the weekend.

Parenting was different when mom stayed home and took care of most of the chores during the week. I know first-hand since my wife stayed home before the kids were old enough to go to school. Once she started working again, out weekends were shot.

That was right before my time. I’m one of those annoying kids that wax for my 90’s cartoons but late 90’s.
